Job description

As Principal mmWave IC Design Engineer, you will strengthen our existing team of designers and drive  the implementation of our SatCom front-end product. You will work on R&D and implementation of state-of-the art ASICs for the next generation of mmWave products, including feasibility study, design, layout, simulation, package design and measurement. You will take a leading role in the projects you work on.

You will become a core member of our team, with a large influence on business and technical decisions. Clear communication during client interactions is essential. Your product mindset will help Tusk IC strengthen its position in the Satcom market by delivering customer-focused, high-impact solutions.

Education

  • MSc or PhD in in electrical engineering with a focus on analog, RF and mmWave ASIC design
  • 10+ years of transistor-level RF/mmWave IC design experience for products in CMOS, SOI and/or SiGe
  • 10+ years of IC design experience for production (PVT variation, electromigration, aging, DFM) and full design cycle: specs to qualified silicon in production

Responsibilities and challenges

  • Take the lead in mmWave ASIC projects
  • Guide and support the designers of the team
  • Spec definition, architecture selection and system-level design of mmWave modules and component
  • Circuit design, layout and verification of mmWave building blocks
  • 2D and 3D EM simulations for interconnect, passives and packages
  • Clear and concise reporting, interaction with customers
  • Dealing with ambiguity, able to make effective decisions based on limited information/unclear goals
  • Come up with creative solutions to new problems
  • Prepared to take on ad-hoc tasks

Competences and qualifications

  • Expert knowledge and experience with leading IC design tools: Cadence, ADS, Synopsys or Mentor
  • Expert knowledge in transistor-level layout extraction and verification (PEX), DRC and LVS
  • Electromagnetic modelling of high-frequency circuits + relevant EDA tools (Momentum, EMX, Peakview, HFSS, CST, …)
  • Extensive lab experience
  • Proficient in a scientific scripting or programming language (e.g. Matlab, Python)
  • Eager to learn and willingness to adopt new tools and design techniques
  • Clear communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
